Social Media Marketing

Why Is Marketing Important?

Marketing is vital to the success of any business. Your strategy in marketing will mark the difference between failure and success. After all, what good is a great product if no one knows it exists?

The main aim of marketing is to let the world know that a) Your product exists and b) What a great product it is! Marketing is all about presentation. It’s about creating desire and want in the hearts of your consumers. It’s about evoking that sense of urgency. It’s about compelling them to give up their hard earned cash for it.

And what makes it even more challenging; consumers nowadays are bombarded with all kinds of marketing tactics that are becoming harder and harder to catch. That is why if you want to sell your product your marketing strategy has to be off the charts.

Social Networking – the Marketing Strategy of the Future

The internet has led to the birth of a new kind of marketing strategy – social media marketing. People connect online. They make friends, they shop and they even date on the internet.

With the number of social networking sites turning up all over the internet these days, what would be crazier is that if you refused to take advantage of this marketing goldmine.

Here are 5 Reasons Why You Should Use Social Networking Sites to Grow Your Business:

  • It’s free! -- To encourage people to sign up, most social networking sites offer free registration. You just have to enter your email address and fill up the registration form and then, voila! You are in. It’s so easy even 2nd grade kids can do it.

  • Easy to use. -- You don’t need to be a computer geek to create a Twitter account or upload pictures on Multiple. Social networking sites are easy to navigate. Creating a new profile can be done in 10 minutes tops. And if you don’t know how to go about it, you can always read the instructions on the sites.

  • Publicity. -- The essence of online marketing is to boost up your visibility to your primary market. And if you sign up you business for say, a Facebook Fanpage, that is exactly what it will accomplish for you. You can use these sites to give free advice and information to your target market. This will establish as an expert on your niche and enable you to gain consumers trust.

  • Speedy ROI. -- The main purpose of establishing a business is to make a profit. Otherwise, what’s the point? That is why entrepreneurs focus on getting a speedy return on their investment in terms of money, time, and effort. Using social networking sites enables you to reach a wider group of people at a minimal cost. There is very little cash outlay involved.

  • Builds customer relationship. -- Successful businesses focus first on gaining their customers trust. And then they focus on building and maintaining those relationships. Social media marketing can help you reach out and communicate more directly with your clients. This is an excellent way of ensuring that you know exactly what the public wants and expects from you.

I have a problem with the point "Speedy ROI". Well you are able to get a good reach by using social media like facebook by low cost. But what is your real return? Well let´s say you sell false teeth. Now you spend time and money on social media will there be a speedy return on investment? I don´t think so. Social media is a cool thing but it´s not the answer for a good ROI.

Over in the UK, companies are advertising their facebook and twitter pages instead of their company websites now. It really seems to be taking off!

Exactly! SMM is a very effective tool. Even tv commercials urge people to "like them on Facebook"
