The Importance of Targeting Local Search

by Chris Friday, September 18 2009

Is your website's SEO flawless? Getting your website indexed and crawled by search engines is important, but as more and more people decide to buy local and use local services the most important factor is getting listed within local search.

Many small businesses often overlook local search at their own peril. This is simply because they either just don't know about it, or they are completely unaware of the amount of legitimate leads local search can generate.

If your company's website is ranking highly in search engines, and your SEO is flawless, but you are not yet listed in local search directories, than you are missing out! And this post is for you!

Below you will find links to the pages for submitting a company/small business in to the local search directories of Google, Bing, and Yahoo.

Google Continues to Update Webmaster Tools

by Chris Monday, July 20 2009

Today, Google rolled out another set of improvements to its Webmaster Tools. Included in the latest update are some UI changes; the most notable being the addition of last updated dates which indicate "data freshness." This is a great change because personally, I was getting tired of seeing data, such as backlinks, being updated in Yahoo Site Explorer and MSN Webmaster Center on a VERY frequent basis...while leaving Webmaster Tools in the dust. Bravo! Google... Bravo!

Update: Apparently, Google posted an article regarding the changes to WMT shortly after my original post. The link is listed below, but for the record, I beat Google to the punch. :P
